Focus on what we have in common – Dr James Ware

I know somebody who always reminds me that nobody comes to work thinking, ‘I wonder how I can screw up today or make life harder for others.’

Everybody can generally be assumed to be altruistic at heart, if their actions are causing difficulties, the way to resolve those is to try and understand things from their perspective, understand the root cause of the problems and find a constructive and mutually beneficial way to address issues.

We need to focus on things we have in common and all agree on rather than any differences.

We have a lot more in common than what divides us, and we need to highlight that and focus on our similarities rather than our differences. We need a common agenda and agreeable dialogue.

Let’s break down the barriers in communication and make our interactions more personal.
